Wander Ratchawat Market, a sprawling playground of street carts, food stalls, and hole-in-the-wall eateries. Ratchawat itself isn’t nearly as busy as some of Bangkok’s more popular tourist markets; vendors here are relaxed, friendly, and social. They hand out free samples of hearty kuay teow neua Kobe (Kobe beef noodle soup) from the Neua Wooah Rai Tiem Taan stall, roast duck, and wonton dumplings and other traditionally beloved treats. This little community along Nakhon Chaisi Road has flourished for years, despite being what many have called “unapologetically Thai.” With its array of restaurants, curio outposts, medicine, hardware, and bric-a-brac shops, Ratchawat feels, smells, and, most importantly, tastes like Thailand.
