Leading online restaurant reservation platform OpenTable has revealed their Top 50 Restaurants in Australia for 2019, as determined by diners around the country. The annual top 50 list was based on 173,000 restaurant reviews this year from verified OpenTable diners, covering more than 2,000 Australian restaurants.
For the second year in a row, Melbourne came out on top as Australia’s most popular foodie hub, claiming nearly half (46 per cent) of the spots on the list. New South Wales came in second, securing 12 spots followed by Queensland with 11 eateries making the top 50.
European cuisine made a comeback as the most popular choice at 32 percent, however Australia’s tastes were noticeably much more diverse this year. For the first time restaurants from this year’s top 50 list included cuisines from Africa and Chile.

Alibi, Sydney
This design led destination bar + kitchen, is considered to be the perfect little harbourside hideaway located in the picturesque surrounds of Woolloomooloo Wharf. It’s menu is created by renowned plant-based chef Matthew Kenney who is all about pushing the boundaries of vegan cuisine.

A Touch of Salt, Townsville
At a Touch of Salt serves up eclectic Modern Australian cuisine designed to spark conversation. Enjoy waterfront views on their alfresco balcony or dine indoors in air-conditioned comfort.

Mesob Ethiopian Restaurant and Bar, Northcote, Victoria

Osteria Oggi, Adelaide

Citrico, Melbourne
