Australia’s top 50 restaurants in 2019, revealed by OpenTable

Leading online restaurant reservation platform OpenTable has revealed their Top 50 Restaurants in Australia for 2019, as determined by diners around the country. The annual top 50 list was based on 173,000 restaurant reviews this year from verified OpenTable diners, covering more than 2,000 Australian restaurants.

For the second year in a row, Melbourne came out on top as Australia’s most popular foodie hub, claiming nearly half (46 per cent) of the spots on the list. New South Wales came in second, securing 12 spots followed by Queensland with 11 eateries making the top 50.

European cuisine made a comeback as the most popular choice at 32 percent, however Australia’s tastes were noticeably much more diverse this year. For the first time restaurants from this year’s top 50 list included cuisines from Africa and Chile.
