Aqua Expeditions' Safari Odyssey

Luxury river cruise company Aqua Expeditions will run a 14-day Safari Odyssey in Africa, in October this year.

Co-hosted by the company’s founder, Francesco Galli-Zugaro, and renowned safari guide Howard Saunders, founder of the Shackleton and Selous Society, the adventure will take up to 10 guests into the African wilderness.

As a long-term fellow of the Shackleton & Sealous Society, and deeply passionate about travel and exploring remote destinations, Francesco was inspired to create this one-off journey by his many trips scouting for future river cruise locations – which so often have turned into unexpected exploratory adventures.

Guests will have the unique opportunity to experience remote regions as they travel through Namibia, Congo and Uganda, and will explore the iconic Congo River and the White Nile.

Tour highlights will include seeing gorillas in the Republic of Congo, and exploring Murchison Falls National Park and the source of the Nile in Uganda and Lake Albert.

For active travellers, a few days of cycling will also be available through Black Rhino country in Namibia, providing the opportunity to help pioneer the new but growing tourism in areas such as Odzala in the Congo.

The tour includes accommodation, all casual meals as detailed in the itinerary, park entries, camping and activities, gorilla tracking permits, on-the-ground vehicle and 4WD transportation, professional Safari Guide, and more.
