Luxury hotel company Anantara is set to launch the highest five-resort in the Middle East this July, when it opens Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort in the Sultanate of Oman.
At 2,000 meters above sea level, the dramatic, luxury resort sits among rugged terrain atop Al Jabal Al Akhdar, a towering massif on the Saiq Plateau, taking in incredible views of mountain peaks and canyons.
Long inaccessible, the peak can now be reached by a two-hour car journey from Muscat International Airport or four and a half hours from Dubai, with the scenic journey taking in valleys, plantations, villages and historical forts along the way.
Combining indigenous and cultural elements with modern amenities, the interiors are sophisticated and contemporary, and the resort’s 115 guest rooms and and villas each feature their own indigenous luxuries, such as the custom-made Omani furniture. The Premier and Deluxe Rooms offer large bedrooms, a spa-like bathroom complete with rain shower and a separate bath alongside a terrace or balcony, while the villas, available in or or two bedrooms, offer a private retreat, each with personal butler services and its own infinity swimming pools.
Six restaurants and lounges will cater to a range of culinary desires, from fine dining at Anantara’s signature ‘Dining by Design’ which is perched on the cliff’s edge platform, to the Arabian grill complete with shisha and tapas. Foodie guests will also love joining the ‘Spice Spoons’ cooking class which invites them to accompany a chef to the local souq and Chef’s Garden.
Meanwhile, in addition to the cliff-edge infinity pool, fitness centre and tennis court, pampering opportunities await at the world renowned Anantara Spa, offering ancient hammam rituals, five soothing treatment suites, private outdoor relaxation areas and an indoor swimming pool.
Outside the resort, guests can immerse themselves in the local culture, history, and landscape through unique, tailored experiences such as mountaintop sunrise yoga, excursions to UNESCO World Heritage sites and ancient cities, and stargazing, all personally arranged by Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort.
