Amatara Wellness Resort Thai Hammam review

Step into the world’s first Thai Hammam at Phuket’s award-winning Amatara Wellness Resort and it doesn’t take long to feel completely invigorated. Inspired by traditional Turkish and Moroccan bathing practices, the experience takes on a gentler approach incorporating Thai spa therapies. A therapist guides you along the journey that features hot and cold temperatures- including an ice dousing, deep body exfoliation, massage, thermal mud therapy and salt cave relaxation.

Amatara Wellness Resort Thai Hammam review

A traditional sauna starts my experience followed by a refreshing rain shower, aromatic Thai herbal steam and then an invigorating scrub with Moroccan black soap made from olive and argan oil. It’s followed by a brisk deep skin exfoliation by the therapist wearing authentic Hammam kessa gloves which removes all dead skin and leaves you feeling wonderful. Thermal mud is then applied and washed off, followed by a stint in the softly lit salt cave – the verdict? Fabulous. The luxe wellness resort located at picturesque Cape Panwa which boasts fabulous views over the Andaman Sea, offers wellness programs that take a ‘middle way’ approach. The 105 suites and villas have balconies with ocean or bay views – some with private pools. Healthy cuisine, tailored programs and treatments are offered plus there’s a stunning 55-metre infinity pool,  a golf course 25 minutes’ away and sight-seeing excursions into Phuket.
