8-days Essential South Africa, private tailor-made journey

From $12,180 pp (low season)

On this suggested tailor-made itinerary, combine the best of South Africa’s crown jewel Cape Town, with an indulgent day in Cape Winelands and a luxury safari in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.

Begin in Cape Town, where Table Mountain beckons, beaches are on the doorstep and vineyards just a stone’s throw away. Spend a day exploring the sites: from the glorious panorama at the summit of Table Mountain to ‘the Cape’s’ fascinating contemporary art scene.

Next, soak up the views as you spend the day journeying along the Atlantic coast on one of the most beautiful roads in the world, Chapman’s Peak Drive. Explore the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve with your expert guide, then descend into Hout Bay valley, with its bustling fishing harbour and white sand beaches for a delicious coastal lunch.

Spend a day beyond the city in Cape Winelands where picturesque vineyards are set against imposing granite peaks and Cape Dutch homesteads nestle under avenues of oaks. Explore Stellenbosch, the centre of the local wine-making industry, surrounded by hundreds of vineyards. You’ll have the chance to visit some privately owned wineries, which date back hundreds of years, to enjoy a variety of tastings.

Then it’s on to Sabi Sand Game Reserve for three exquisite nights at the luxurious Londolozi Healing House at Varty Camp staying in one of only ten elegant chalets. You will have your own private plunge pool to cool off in between game drives and private elevated decks where you can recline with a book and look out over the river for beautiful wildlife viewing. Revel in twice-daily game drives, seeking out lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalo, elephants, cheetahs, wild dogs and hippos.

Other activities include yoga in Varti’s elevated yoga sanctuary, clay shooting, guided walks, bird watching (with over 400 species on your doorstep), as well as visits to local villages and schools.
