Your Tasmania itinerary
This unique 11-day small group journey with just three departures offers rare insight to what makes Tasmania tick. One of A&K’s Resident Tour Guides will accompany you.
The trip kicks off in Hobart with a stay at the MACq01. Here a quintessential Tassie experience awaits on the waterfront. Marvel over fresh local produce showcased at Old Wharf. Trinkets and curiosities of the distant past are sprinkled throughout the property and tales are told, around the open fire.
Wildlife and wilderness
A conservation immersion awaits in the Huon Valley at the Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy supported Raptor Refuge. Here important rehabilitation work is being done with injured birds of prey. A&K guests on this journey enjoy exclusive access to the refuge, established by the inspirational Craig Webb. Visit the aviaries, the care facilities and observe birds in the various stages of recovery prior to release.
A cruise down the mighty Gordon River through the World Heritage Wilderness Area is a highlight while hikes at Lake St Clair National Park reveal more spectacular landscapes and rare wilderness. At Cradle Mountain, there’s plenty to do with walks or a private wine and cheese tasting.
Art and culture experiences
From conservation to contemporary (and confronting) art, a visit to eclectic Mona is sure to create lasting impressions. While Bruny Island and its artisan providores promise cheese, chocolate and honey tastings. Round off the day with a rainforest hike.
Further immerse yourself in Tasmania’s Art scene at Risby Cove on the Strahan waterfront with a personalised tour of Cove Gallery. The curator reveals the eclectic collection of works by accomplished local artists housed within the converted, century-old sawmill workshop. A stop in quirky Sheffield en route to Launceston showcases more than 100 outdoor murals, galleries and studios with artists at work.
The Grand Finale
A private charter flight transports guests from Launceston to Flinders Island for the day where a distillery tour, gourmet seafood lunch and a beach walk showcase the best of this wild and rugged outpost.
A fitting finale, the journey culminates in a stay at iconic coastal sanctuary, Saffire Freycinet. Guided walks and beekeeping, oyster shucking and kayaking are all on offer.
