Ever wondered what it might be like to sleep amongst the fish? In celebration of the Disney Pixar flick Finding Dory, Airbnb has unveiled its most spectacular listing to date – a floating bedroom surrounded by the Great Barrier Reef where the film is set – and is giving one lucky family the chance to win the experience of living in a coral garden.
Allowing you to get up close and personal with one of the largest natural wonders on Earth, the room is situated on a raft floating directly above a spectacular coral garden, abundant with vibrant marine life, including tropical fish, turtles, rays, sharks, whales and dolphins.
More than just a pretty place to stay, the once-in-a-lifetime experience is a conservation effort which will showcase the unique beauty of the reef while affording guests an in-depth understanding of how humans can better help and support the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef.
Committed to the preservation of the reef and in line with the sustainability ethos of the share economy, Airbnb will plant carbon-reducing, water quality-improving marine plants for every guest visiting the region, as well as contributing to an ongoing tiger shark conservation project.
Upon arrival, guests will be welcomed by their host Pascal, who spent much of his life growing up on the Reef, and a dedicated team of marine biologists which will give a unique insight into life on the World Heritage listed reef, followed by opportunities to swim, snorkel and dive.
The offshore accommodation features a master bedroom with vanity area, a sundeck lounge area, and a bunk bed for kids, with world-renowned chef Neil Perry preparing meals from sustainably-sourced local seafood and produce.
