Remember the ‘1 Euro House’ campaign, when Italian villages were selling houses for just one euro?
Well, Airbnb purchased a picturesque three-story home in Sambuca, a town in Sicily, Italy. And they fully transformed it into a designer heritage home.
Now, they’re looking for an adventurer with a passion for hospitality to live rent-free and host the Sicilian Airbnb for a year. Plus you can bring your family, friend or partner with you (maximum of two adults and two children total).
How does it work?
If you want to make the 1 Euro House yours for a year all you have to do is submit an application, which you can find here. Applications close 18 February 2022.
There are just a few requirements first.
You have to be over 18 and able to move to Sambuca for at least three consecutive months from 30 June 2022.
You also need to be able to speak conversational English (Italian is a bonus, but not a must).
Most importantly you need to be committed to hosting one room in the house for a minimum of nine months. After all the purpose of 1 Euro House is to bring visitors back to the charming village following the beginning of the pandemic.
For your hard work hosting, you will live completely rent-free and retain all the Airbnb Host earnings over the course of your stay.
It’s not all work, the selected participant will take part in a mentorship program. This involves learning Italian and attending Italian cooking classes.
Airbnb gave the 1 Euro House a designer makeover to make it really something special.
